Supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 12

Responsible consumption and production: by digitalizing Closest to the Pin tournaments.

UN Sustainable Development Goal 12

By switching from paper-based tournaments to digital reporting, CTTP Golf reduces waste and unnecessary resources. Technology and golf can work hand in hand for a better climate.

Per club, per year

What does a typical golf club save?

Based on: 70 scorecards (A5) + 3-4 distance sheets (A4, one per par-3 hole where players note their distance to the pin) × 40 tournaments/year.

Paper tournaments vs. CTTP Golf

The traditional paper method requires printing, delivery and filing. CTTP Golf digitalizes the entire flow: from scan to live leaderboard.

Paper-based administration
  • Paper per tournament 70 scorecards (A5) + 3-4 distance sheets (A4)
  • QR code material Not applicable
  • Toner/ink 1-2 cartridges/year
  • Buggy trips with paper ~40 trips/year
  • Printer wear ~4% of printer lifespan/year
  • Administration time 1.5–2 hours per tournament (preparation, delivery, interpreting handwriting on scorecards and distance sheets)
With CTTP Golf
  • Paper per tournament 0 sheets
  • QR code material 1 pcs per course (one-time): can be made in metal/plastic and never replaced
  • Toner/ink 0
  • Buggy trips with paper 0
  • Printer wear 0
  • Administration time Under 1 minute setup: result ready automatically live

Estimate

If all clubs used the CTTP Golf system

These figures are estimates based on publicly available club counts and the above per-club calculation. Actual savings vary by club size, tournament frequency and previous workflows.

Denmark

~190 clubs (DGU)

Paper/year ~1.5 tons
Water/year ~2.9 million L
CO2e/year ~4.2 tons

Global

~38.000 courses (R&A 2023)

Paper/year ~300 tons
Water/year ~570 million L
CO2e/year ~840 tons
Permanent installation

QR code as one-time installation

Per course only one QR code is needed: and it only needs to be made once. The club can choose material based on needs: printed paper (rarely replaced), plastic or metal (lasts decades outdoors). Once installed, always ready.
